Diversity Trail, Bristol

Theme: Multiethnic

Bristol has been a multiethnic city since it was founded by Saxon settlers. It has been visited by, and home to, generations of incomers and traders including neighbours from Wales and Ireland.

This trail (with supporting activities) offers many opportunities for cross-curricular study between History, Citizenship and Geography. The supporting teacher notes have a great deal of background information on Bristol history and diversity. The trail can be completed in its entirety, or in sections. It can also be used together with our Diversity Through Time teacher pack.

This unit of teaching material was written by Dean Smart.
The material was supported by historical research for the England’s Past for Everyone publication Bristol: Ethnic Minorities and the City 1001 – 2001.
