Religious Sites of Cornwall

Theme: Religion / Medieval

This teaching material is designed to show how Christianity became established in Cornwall. Through interactive and creative activities, pupils explore the history of Cornish saints and how medieval people in Cornwall related to their churches and pilgrimage. This key stage transitional material can be taught in its entirety, or as separate sessions incorporated in other curriculum areas; it has many opportunities for cross-curricular links with Religious Education and Geography. This unit of material promotes learning outside the classroom.

This unit of teaching material was written by John Welham, History Advanced Skills Teacher (Cornwall).

The material was supported by historical research for the England’s Past for Everyone publication Cornwall and the Cross: Christianity 500 – 1560.
