1. The cover of our book is a detail of a mural by the Bristol-based artist Gloria Ojulari Sule which also figures on p. p.224 (Figure 139). The mural, which at time of writing is still visible on a building in Grosvenor Road, St. Paul’s, Bristol, depicts the Clifton Suspension Bridge and St. Paul’s Church and the houses typical of Montpellier and parts of St. Paul’s. The street market may be based on the once vibrant Eastville street market.

2. Since our book’s publication, it has been brought to our attention that the artist whose sketches illustrated Stasia’s Story by Stanislawa Cesarz p.205 -206(Figures 130 and 131) were drawn by Anton Bantock who also helped prepare Stasia’s Story for publication.

3. Alexa Jones who kindly supplied much of the census information on Bristol’s 19th century ( see especially pp. 109-110 of our book) would like it to be known that the copyright for the census entries belongs to the Manchester & Lancashire Family History Society.

4. Zahir Malik who generously helped us obtain some crucial photos for our twentieth century chapters, some of which he took himself has not been fully acknowledged in our credits. We shall be detailing his contributions shortly and in the meantime apologise for our omission!
