Theme: Slave Trade

The Bristol Slavery Trail follows a route through central Bristol, and includes a number of sites with links to the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Bristol was an important post in the 17th and 18th centuries, and many local merchants and businesses had connections to the trade.

This trail, with activities and resources, offers many opportunities for cross-curricular study between History, Geography and Citizenship. The trail can be completed in its entirety, or in sections. The material promotes learning outside the classroom. 

This unit of teaching material was written by Dean Smart, and adapted from the Bristol Slavery Trail on Victoria County History’s ‘History Footsteps’ website.
