Key Stages: 2
Project Period: 2007-08
Year 4 (ages 7 – 8) pupils from Ledbury Primary School explored local Tudor history on their doorsteps. The pupils participated in a tour of Ledbury which included recognising Tudor architecture, reading wills of local families, and understanding the lives of the rich and poor 400 years ago. A follow-up day was held in the school with workshop sessions which enabled the pupils to view original wills, and write their own with quills and ink. They also learnt about the everyday lives of rich and poor Tudors through artifacts, and found out about building with wattle and daub. Herefordshire Heritage Services will take on the ‘Tudor history tour’ and offer it to schools as a workshop.
