England’s Past for Everyone is a Heritage Lottery-funded project involving communities across the country.
Authors and researchers are working alongside volunteers to bring local history to life, producing everything from books to interactive websites and materials for schools. Our first book, Sunderland and its Origins: Monks to Mariners, which traces Sunderland’s history from the time of its earliest settlement through to the creation of the parish of Sunderland in 1719, is now available. Our second paperback (due out in 2009), which charts Sunderland’s landscape from medieval through to modern times will be called Sunderland: Building a City.
