Ledbury: a Market Town and its Tudor Heritage – tells the story of this ancient town from 16th century to present day. The story takes in developments in trade, transport, social provision, architecture, industry and leisure, and of course considers the history of the timber-framed buildings which still attract visitors today.
The garderobe was a small toilet with a bench with holes suspended above a pit. There were no pipes and waste dropped directly down a chute from the bench into the pit.
