This teaching material is designed to explore Tudor life in Ledbury, Herefordshire, based around the following themes: Tudor buildings in Ledbury; Discovering the lives of the rich and poor in Tudor Ledbury; Discovering wills. Although based around Ledbury trails and local historical sources/monuments, the themes can be translated to the study of Tudor life in many other areas of England. This material can be taught in its entirety, or as separate sessions incorporated in other curriculum areas; it provides opportunities for cross-curricular links with Geography and Art and Design. This unit of work promotes learning outside the classroom.
This unit was developed by Carolyn Olney, Hereford Museum and Art Gallery.
The material was supported by historical research for the England’s Past for Everyone paperback Ledbury: a Market Town and its Tudor Heritage.
