Cornwall Publications
In Cornwall, there are two EPE projects each resulting in a paperback book, interactive website, and learning materials for schools.
Religion permeates Cornwall in visible forms. You can't travel through the countryside or a town without seeing a church tower, chapel, ancient cross or holy well. Our book Cornwall and the Cross: Christianity 500-1560 tells the story of how Christianity came to Cornwall and how it developed there from about AD 500 up to the end of the Reformation in 1559. A complete history of religion in Cornwall, it will cover the location of religious sites, how religion was organised and who it involved.
The Mousehole and Newlyn book focuses on the international trade of these ports from the medieval period to the present day. A favourite Cornish toast at the end of the 18th century was ‘fish, tin and copper’ and it was the first of these that brought prosperity to the most westerly of Mount’s Bay ports. Fish, fishing grounds and markets change, but Newlyn remains a centre of the fishing industry to this day. The second theme of this book is the struggle for urban status and the impact of changing administrations on place.
