This school project explored the multiethnic nature of Bristol over time. Based on the academic research of Madge Dresser and Dr Peter Fleming (for the EPE paperback Bristol: Ethnic Minorities and the City 1000 – 2001) the project’s teaching material shows how Bristol has always had ethnic minority communities, and how the city had benefited from links with extended networks of people.
The school project has now been extended - Dean Smart will be editing the VCH
History Footsteps Bristol Slavery Trail
for Schools Learning Zone, and will also be developing a Bristol Diversity Trail.
The material was trialled by pupils at Ashton Park School in Bristol.
